Job seekers in Mid-Missouri, including Westminster students, have a new resource they can use to find jobs, right here in Fulton. Whether it is local or state-wide job opportunity, the Missouri Job Center can provide help for anyone who is interested.

Missouri Job Center opened in January, at the former location of Davis Realty, 512 Market St. Missouri Job Center is headed by Michael Fooks, who currently leads the job center in Jefferson City. According to Career Trends of Callaway County, the county’s unemployment rate is 4.4 percent, a number that the job center looks to lower ever further.

For Westminster students who are about to graduate or are still enrolled in school, the addition of a job center in Fulton presents a new and more convenient opportunity to apply for jobs. Although Westminster has a Center for Career Development on campus, which offers tools such as online career interest surveys and résumé templates, the Missouri Job Center can directly link contacts with employers and host them so they can conduct interviews for people interested in that company or business. Fulton’s Missouri Job Center will have regular hours during which they will give interviews to individuals who apply for a job. Additionally, unlike Westminster’s Center for Career Development, the new job center offers its services to the general public.

“Anyone can come in to use our computers and phones that are actively job seeking.” said Shane Moriarity, chairman of the Central Workforce Development Board. “We are contacting local employers and organizing workshops that are open to the public.”

The Missouri Job center also has internship opportunities for those who are interested. The center is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

  • Westminster’s Center for Career Development is excited to have this additional resource in Fulton. Just wanted to remind students that we are a full service office that offers job postings 24/7 through Columns CareerLink, on campus interviews, internships and assistance with graduate school applications. Check us out!
